Signals methodology
Signals answers one question: what is changing? Every item links to its official source.
Policy Tracker
127 one-page briefs across 49 countries, 2017 to 2026. Each brief says what the policy does, who gains and who pays, and how close it is to binding law on its country's own stage ladder; 64 stage ladders keep the stages comparable. Sources are legislatures, regulators, ministries, and system operators. Refreshed twice a month.
Procurement and Contracts
Procurement rounds open now (tenders, auctions, requests for proposals, and bid windows run by governments, regulators, system operators, single buyers, and state utilities), each with its deadline and the official notice, plus power contract terms and auction prices. Refreshed twice a month.
Market Movers
The latest reported results of the companies that move each country's power market, what management said, and what it means for the grid, with links to the filings. Refreshed twice a month.
Forecast Check
Every EIA Annual Energy Outlook Reference case since 2015 laid over what the US grid actually did (electricity demand, coal, gas, nuclear, wind, and solar), with the misses scored against official actuals.
Queue Watch
Active generator and storage interconnection requests in CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, NYISO, ISO-NE, and PJM and the major non-RTO utilities, placed by county. Each request carries a Virya confidence score of reaching commercial operation, based on the furthest study stage reached and scaled by each queue's historical completion rate. PJM and non-RTO utilities come from LBNL Queued Up.
